The Sanctuary of A Franqueira is located at the top of the mountain overlooking the valley of Mondariz and Covelo. It was built by the lords of Sobroso in s. XIII, for the order of the Bernardos. Most notable is the Gothic doorway with Romanesque reminiscences, semicircular archivolts, which include sculptures. Four pairs of shafts bent columns hold varied ornamentation archivolts with angels arranged in an arc as the ogival covers. The tympanum contains the Adoration of the Magi with Virgin sitting under a pointed cupulín and Child on her knees. The plant of the church is rectangular, attached to a rectangular apse chapel also by a dome half. The ship has four compartments separated by pointed arches on which rests a wooden roof. In the background, behind the main altar is the stone statue of Our Lady of Franqueira, placed on a raised bandstand.
